Despite being right at the edge of the Indian Ocean and in the middle of the Arabian Peninsula's coast, Salalah, Oman's second largest city, is an incredibly isolated place. 10 hours drive from the nearest town in Oman, along a long, straight, flat desert highway of 1500km or so, it is a mystical place with such unusual weather, people from across the Arab world flock there in the right season.This is a place where ragged cliffs are home to nothing other than birds, where fishermen still bring their catch to the beach at the end of the day to have people sort through the nets together. With abandoned towns and a saint's tomb, it doesn't need to rely on just it's fame with Frankinsence and Incense to survive. It's true uniqueness lies in its weather system, which sees so much rain in certain times of year that the hills, valleys, and land in general turn a brilliant green.
